control the city without either formal title or a crown.

the power of art to establish their political and social status.

In the 16th century, an 18 years old youth became the Duke of Florence.
At that time nobody thought that he would
succeed and even less that one day he would become the Grand Duke of Tuscany.
By observing his wisdom
and the power
of art we will see how he established and strengthened his regime.

In the 15th century the Medici family ruled Florence without a crown.
By 16th century they had became dukes,
marrying their children to the Royal families of Europe. And yet, by the
middle of the 18th century the dynasty had disappeared.
In this tour we will examine the rise and fall of the Medici
family through its love affairs, deceptions, assassinations and its use of art.
